Apple's HomeView: A18 Chip, Siri Display, Launch Expected Tuesday

Apple will unveil the HomeView smart home hub on Tuesday, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports: a Siri-powered display device with an A18 chip in countertop and wall-mounted models.

Apple will announce a smart home hub called the HomeView on Tuesday, October's most closely watched hardware reveal according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman — a Siri-powered device with a display and an A18 processor that the company hopes will finally give it traction in a market it has repeatedly failed to crack.

The A18 chip is the hardest specification in the story. It ties the HomeView to the same silicon Apple shipped in the iPhone 16 lineup, signaling the hub is built as a genuine compute platform rather than an accessory. Gurman described the device as a Siri-powered control center with a screen, letting customers manage their other smart home devices from a single panel.

Two form factors are planned, according to the report: a countertop model and a version designed to be mounted on walls. That dual-sku approach mirrors how rivals have segmented the category, though Gurman's reporting does not specify pricing, screen sizes, or availability dates for either variant.

Why does the HomeView matter for Apple?

The device represents Apple's most serious bet on the smart home to date. The company's track record here is thin on two counts.

  • HomeKit, Apple's software framework for controlling third-party smart home devices, never achieved broad adoption among consumers.
  • HomePod, its smart speaker line, failed to gain meaningful traction against competitors in the voice-assistant speaker market.

A dedicated hub with a display and Apple Silicon addresses both failures at once: it gives HomeKit a flagship device to anchor the ecosystem and positions Apple in the screen-equipped smart display segment where voice-only speakers have struggled.

What else launches on Tuesday?

Gurman reports the HomeView will not arrive alone. Tuesday's event also brings updated versions of two existing home devices:

  • The Apple TV set-top box
  • The HomePod mini smart speaker

Both refreshes appear in the same Bloomberg reporting as the HomeView announcement, suggesting Apple intends to present a coordinated home-device lineup rather than a single孤立 product launch.

Is Apple building a broader home ecosystem?

Earlier this week, Gurman reported that Apple plans to announce a partnership with LG covering three home product categories:

  • A smart lock
  • A thermostat
  • A doorbell

The LG tie-up, if confirmed Tuesday, would mark a structural shift in Apple's home strategy. Rather than relying solely on its own hardware and the HomeKit certification program, Apple would be co-developing categories — locks, thermostats, doorbells — where it has never shipped first-party products. The move would put Apple's software and brand into device classes that competitors already dominate.

Together, the HomeView, the refreshed Apple TV and HomePod mini, and the LG partnership sketch a full-stack approach: Apple-built hubs and speakers at the center, with partner hardware extending the ecosystem into security and climate control.

What remains unconfirmed?

Everything in the report rests on Gurman's sourcing, not on Apple statements. The report does not include:

  • Pricing for the HomeView, Apple TV, or HomePod mini
  • Technical specifications beyond the A18 chip and display
  • Ship dates or availability windows
  • Launch markets

Apple has not officially commented on any of the products. Tuesday's announcement is the point at which these Bloomberg-reported plans either become shipping products or stay roadmap.

For Apple, the commercial question is straightforward: the smart home remains one of the few major device categories where the company holds no established position, and Tuesday will show whether the HomeView and its companion hardware change that or join HomeKit and HomePod as aspirational efforts.
