Cyient Semiconductors has raised $30 million from Edelweiss at a valuation of $500 million, according to a report by Business Standard.

The investment values the semiconductor business of engineering services firm Cyient at half a billion dollars, a marker of how investors are pricing India-linked chip design and semiconductor services assets as the country builds out its domestic electronics and semiconductor ecosystem.

Cyient, historically an engineering services provider serving aerospace, communications and technology customers, has been pushing deeper into semiconductor design services. The $30 million infusion from Edelweiss gives the unit fresh capital to expand that effort, though the company has not yet disclosed in this report how it will allocate the funds, what headcount or design wins it targets, or the timeframe for any milestones tied to the $500 million valuation.

For Edelweiss, the deal represents a continued bet on India's semiconductor value chain. Global chipmakers and design houses have been expanding their engineering footprints in India, and services firms with verified silicon design capabilities have attracted rising investor interest as customers seek capacity beyond traditional design hubs.

The $500 million valuation places Cyient Semiconductors among the more richly valued semiconductor services assets in the Indian market. Whether the unit can convert the new capital into revenue growth at a pace that justifies that number will depend on customer demand for advanced-node design work and the company's ability to compete with larger established design-services players.

Business Standard, which first reported the transaction, did not disclose the deal's structure or whether the round includes secondary share sales. Cyient has not announced a public statement detailing terms beyond the headline figures of $30 million raised and a $500 million valuation.

The funding arrives as India's semiconductor push gains policy backing and private capital, with both design services and manufacturing proposals drawing investor attention. Cyient Semiconductors now has the balance sheet to accelerate its expansion; the market will be watching for its next capacity, hiring or customer announcements to gauge whether the $500 million valuation holds in subsequent rounds.
