IonQ Jumps 23% to $32.62 After $173.8M Q3, Raised 2026 Guide

IonQ closed up 23.4% at $32.62 after $173.8M Q3 revenue and a raised $505-515M 2026 guide, though SkyWater supplied $83.5M and analysts trimmed targets.

IonQ closed at $32.62 on Friday 6 November, up 23.4 percent from Thursday's $26.43 close, after reporting third-quarter revenue of $173.8 million and raising its 2026 guidance to $505-515 million (Yahoo Finance data; IonQ release).

Revenue rose 336 percent year over year. It was the sixth record quarter in a row. Consensus estimates had clustered around $141-143 million (Benzinga). The quarter beat on every headline line: revenue, GAAP EPS and adjusted EPS all exceeded consensus, IonQ said.

How much of the beat is SkyWater?

The headline number splits in two. The IonQ Platform segment, which covers IonQ's own quantum products and services, grew 127 percent to $90.3 million. The remaining $83.5 million came from SkyWater Foundry Services, the chip foundry IonQ now consolidates. Nearly half of quarterly revenue now comes from a conventional foundry business, which explains the outsized 336 percent growth rate. IonQ expects quantum computing revenue alone to grow about 110 percent this year.

The profit line needs the same care. GAAP net income attributable to IonQ was $564.0 million, or $1.42 a share, but the company attributed this to "the non-cash mark-to-market impact of warrants." On an adjusted basis, IonQ lost $0.29 a share and posted adjusted EBITDA of negative $133.6 million.

Guidance moved up regardless. The new $505-515 million range replaces the $450-460 million set after the SkyWater consolidation (Quantum Computing Report). Remaining performance obligations more than doubled to $1.2 billion. Cash, equivalents and investments stood at $1.7 billion on 30 September, or $3.7 billion including the $2.0 billion equity offering that closed on 16 October.

What new business did IonQ book?

The release listed a cluster of wins:

  • Stage C of DARPA's Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, with potential program value up to $300 million.
  • A Superion 256 system as the first on-premise quantum computer at Nvidia's Accelerated Quantum Research Center.
  • A $33 million contract with SDT.
  • A $28 million DARPA contract for 25 optical atomic clocks, plus a $30 million option for 100 more.
  • A $25 million Superion 256 deployment at Florida International University.

IonQ also completed its acquisition of Elisity on 4 November to extend its quantum security platform.

Why did the stock move so sharply?

Part of Friday's gain is a rebound. IonQ fell about 10.5 percent on Thursday as the Nasdaq dropped 5.52 percent into a correction, on fears that the Democratic midterm win will bring tighter rules for data centers. Shares rose 3 to 5.5 percent after hours on the results (Investing.com, GuruFocus) and climbed through Friday's session to close at the day's high of $32.62, within a $27.61-$32.62 range.

The stock entered the report weak. It was down about 34 percent year to date, and IonQ had sold $2 billion of stock in October (TipRanks).

What did analysts do?

Ratings held, but several targets came down. Needham's Quinn Bolton cut his target to $48 from $65 and kept a Buy rating (MarketBeat, Benzinga). Cantor Fitzgerald's Troy Jensen trimmed to $60 from $70 and kept Overweight. Rosenblatt held a Buy and a $70 target (TipRanks). Every target sits well above the current price, yet the direction of travel after a beat-and-raise quarter was lower, not higher.

What are the reference levels?

Short-term reference points frame the risk: bear at $26.43, roughly 19 percent below Friday's close and the pre-results level; base at $29.54-$32.62, spanning Wednesday's close through Friday's; bull at $35.90, about 10 percent above, which requires the quantum rally to extend. These are anchored closing prices, not forecasts.

Investors will watch Monday's open for whether IonQ holds above $30 after a 23 percent one-day move, next quarter's Platform segment number for growth without foundry help, further analyst target changes, Nasdaq direction after Thursday's correction, and any new share sales following October's $2 billion offering. The raised guide gives the stock a floor for now; the SkyWater share of growth and the adjusted losses will decide whether the rebound holds.
