Nacon has opened preorders for the Revolution 5 Unlimited, a $229.99 wireless controller the company claims is the world's first officially licensed PlayStation 5 gamepad with a built-in screen. Orders are live through Nacon's online store, with shipments expected later this year.

The integrated display does two jobs. First, it lets players adjust settings directly on the gamepad — joystick sensitivity, button remapping and similar parameters — without pausing the game or opening a companion app. Second, it functions as an audio mixer for multiple sources: with wired headphones plugged into the controller, a user can listen to music streamed from a phone while simultaneously hearing in-game audio from the PS5.

That mixing capability is the most concrete differentiator in an increasingly crowded licensed-peripheral market. Sony has steadily expanded its official licensing program for PS5 accessories, and Nacon — a French peripheral maker with a long track record in licensed controllers — has used that position to push features typically reserved for premium third-party hardware. An onboard screen for on-the-fly configuration echoes the approach of enthusiast controllers, but pairing it with multi-source audio mixing in an officially licensed product is, by Nacon's own claim, a first for the PS5 ecosystem.

The $229.99 price places the Revolution 5 Unlimited firmly in the premium tier, well above standard first-party gamepads and in the same bracket as high-end pro controllers. Nacon is betting that the convenience of hardware-based configuration and audio mixing justifies that premium over app-driven alternatives that require a phone or console menu to change settings.

The company has not yet specified an exact shipping date beyond "later this year," nor has it detailed full technical specifications such as battery life, wireless protocol or the screen's size and resolution. Those details will matter for buyers weighing the controller against competitors, since configuration screens and audio routing have historically appeared on unlicensed hardware that carried compatibility or latency trade-offs.

For now, the announcement establishes the feature set and price: a licensed PS5 controller with a settings display and dual-source audio mixing, available for preorder at $229.99. If Nacon delivers the promised firmware flexibility and ships on schedule, the Revolution 5 Unlimited could pressure other licensed peripheral makers to move configuration and audio controls onto the controller itself rather than into companion apps.
