Nscale is negotiating a second $45 billion AI computing deal with Anthropic, according to a report from Quartz. If signed, the agreement would follow a first arrangement of the same reported scale between the UK-based GPU cloud provider and the Claude maker.

The talks, which Quartz reports are ongoing, signal how fast the market for AI datacenter capacity keeps growing — and how concentrated the buyer side has become. A single model developer, Anthropic, could end up anchoring two separate $45 billion compute commitments with one infrastructure supplier.

Why does a second $45 billion deal matter?

Scale is the story here. A combined $90 billion in contracted compute across two agreements would rank Nscale's commitments with Anthropic among the largest AI infrastructure relationships yet disclosed by a privately held cloud provider.

For Nscale, a second deal of this size would lock in revenue visibility for years. For Anthropic, it would secure the GPU capacity the company needs to train and serve increasingly large models — capacity that remains scarce and expensive across the industry.

Quartz attributes the figure of $45 billion for the prospective second deal to people familiar with the discussions. Neither Nscale nor Anthropic has confirmed the terms, and talks could still change or fall apart before any contract is signed.

What's the commercial context?

AI developers have been racing to reserve power and processors. That race has produced a wave of multi-year, multibillion-dollar contracts between model labs and datacenter operators, as buyers move to guarantee supply rather than rent capacity on the spot.

Nscale, which builds out GPU infrastructure specifically for AI workloads, sits on the supplier side of that equation. Anthropic, which develops the Claude model family, sits on the demand side — and has shown it will commit at enormous scale to secure compute.

A second $45 billion agreement would deepen that relationship further. It would also raise the stakes for both companies: Nscale would need to actually deliver the datacenters, power and hardware that a contract of this size implies, while Anthropic would need the cash flow to service it.

What happens next?

Nothing is signed. Quartz reports the two companies are in talks, and until an agreement is announced, the $45 billion figure remains a negotiation detail rather than a contract term. If the deal closes, expect it to reshape the competitive picture for AI compute supply in Europe, where Nscale has been building out its footprint.
