CMF has launched its first portable Bluetooth speakers, the Speaker Series, marking the budget-focused brand's entry into audio hardware with a design that resembles electronic milk cartons.

Nothing created CMF as a budget sub-brand but is now spinning it off into an India-based standalone subsidiary. The move signals how seriously the company treats the low-cost segment as a standalone business rather than a side project.

The Speaker Series comes in two versions: the CMF Speaker S and the Speaker M. Both speakers ship in bright color options, including orange and turquoise, continuing a design language the brand has used across its product line.

What makes CMF's approach different?

CMF has built its identity on affordability paired with distinctive designs. The brand's Headphone Pro, launched roughly a year ago, followed the same formula: aggressive pricing, unusual industrial design, and hardware touches — like an energy slider and volume wheel — that competitors at the same price rarely offer.

The new speakers extend that strategy into a category where portable Bluetooth speakers tend to look alike. CMF has not confirmed whether a grocery store's dairy aisle actually inspired the hardware, but the visual resemblance to milk cartons is immediate and unmistakable.

The design also appears to support customization, based on the company's announcement materials, though full specifications for both models have not yet been detailed in the initial launch coverage.

Why does the India spin-off matter?

Nothing is restructuring CMF as an independent, India-based subsidiary rather than keeping it as an internal brand. India represents one of the fastest-growing markets for budget audio and wearables, and basing the subsidiary there positions CMF closer to that demand.

The spin-off also gives CMF room to expand its product families — from headphones and phones to now speakers — without operating under Nothing's premium brand positioning.

What comes next for the Speaker Series?

The Speaker S and Speaker M are the first entries in what could become a broader audio lineup for the standalone CMF brand. As the India subsidiary formalizes, expect the company to push the affordability-plus-design formula into additional categories where generic-looking competitors dominate the budget tier.
