Sea Ltd., the Singapore-based technology conglomerate founded by billionaire Forrest Li, has become the first company in Southeast Asia to deploy Nvidia's next-generation AI chips, according to VnExpress International.

The milestone positions Sea — the parent of e-commerce platform Shopee, gaming developer Garena, and digital finance arm SeaMoney — at the front of the regional queue for Nvidia's most advanced accelerators. Details on which specific chip product family Sea has received, the shipment volumes, or the deployment timeline were not disclosed in the report.

For Sea, early access to next-generation AI silicon carries direct commercial weight across its three business lines. Shopee faces intense competition from TikTok Shop and Lazada across Southeast Asian e-commerce, where AI-driven recommendation engines, demand forecasting, and logistics optimization increasingly separate winners from losers. Garena's game development pipelines rely on AI-assisted content generation and player-behavior modeling. SeaMoney's credit-scoring and fraud-detection systems similarly depend on machine-learning throughput.

The deal also underscores how Nvidia's allocation of its scarcest computing resources has become a strategic lever in emerging markets. Southeast Asia has attracted a wave of AI infrastructure commitments over the past year, with Singapore functioning as the region's principal hub for data-center capacity and cloud connectivity. Companies that secure early allocations of flagship GPUs gain a measurable head start in building local AI services, training regional language models, and hosting inference workloads for customers who face data-residency requirements.

Nvidia has been steadily widening its customer base beyond the U.S. hyperscalers that absorbed the bulk of its earlier AI-chip output. Extending priority supply to a Southeast Asian buyer signals the company's intent to anchor its ecosystem in fast-growing digital economies where AI adoption remains early but spending momentum is strong.

Forrest Li, born in China and naturalized in Singapore, built Sea from a gaming startup into one of Southeast Asia's most valuable listed technology companies. The company returned to profitability in 2023 after a painful cost-cutting campaign and has since reaccelerated investment in AI infrastructure, making access to top-tier accelerators a prerequisite for sustaining that trajectory.

The report did not specify the financial terms of the arrangement or whether the chips are deployed in Sea's own data centers or through a cloud partner. As Nvidia's next-generation parts remain supply-constrained globally, Sea's first-mover status in the region is likely to hold until other Southeast Asian buyers — likely sovereign AI initiatives, telecom operators, or regional cloud providers — secure their own allocations.
