Apple’s eighth-generation iPad Mini will go on sale November 6 with an 8.5-inch OLED display and Wi-Fi pricing from $699, bringing OLED to Apple’s smallest tablet for the first time.

Apple announced the device earlier in the week alongside several new MacBook Pro models. Preorders are already open at Apple in black and a creamy white finish. Best Buy also accepts preorders and offers a $50 gift card. The entry $699 configuration combines Wi-Fi with 128GB of storage, setting the commercial baseline before the November launch.

Which chips drive performance and connectivity?

The new A20 Pro chip anchors the performance claims. Apple says it should deliver faster performance and support some of the company’s new Siri AI features, including the ability to customize Siri’s voice. The processor therefore covers both the promised speed increase and selected AI functions, although both remain tied to Apple’s description ahead of release.

Storage pricing reveals a separate hardware difference. Moving from 128GB to 256GB costs an additional $100, while 512GB storage reaches $999. The 512GB model has a more powerful six-core CPU; the lower-storage models have five-core CPUs. Buyers pay more for the top tier and receive a different core count with it.

For wireless connections, Apple’s N1 wireless networking chip adds Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread support. Cellular models add the C2 modem, which Apple says can deliver speeds up to 50 percent faster than the previous generation. The “up to” qualification leaves C2’s benefit as a stated ceiling rather than a guaranteed result on every connection.

The chip strategy divides the lineup into three layers: A20 Pro for processing, N1 for wireless links and C2 for cellular speed. That gives Apple a clear hardware distinction at each step up the price list.

What changes in the eighth-generation iPad Mini?

The 8.5-inch OLED panel is the largest screen ever offered in an iPad Mini, even though Apple made this model thinner and lighter than its 2024 predecessor. The switch to OLED changes the display technology while retaining the compact format that defines the product line. Apple has thus combined a larger screen with less bulk, moving the Mini further toward display- and media-oriented use.

Apple also moved the 12-megapixel front-facing camera to the long edge, making video calls easier in landscape mode. The tablet also carries IP67 water resistance, giving the compact enclosure a stated level of protection against dust and water.

Apple calls its speaker arrangement an “Acoustic Display.” The system pairs speakers with the screen and frame, and Apple says it should deliver louder, richer sound with deeper bass and clearer highs. Those sound gains remain product claims until the November 6 release.

The practical result is a smaller tablet with a larger OLED screen, revised camera placement and more integrated audio, without abandoning the compact form that defines the Mini.

What will buyers pay?

Wi-Fi pricing starts at $699 for 128GB. The 256GB version adds $100, and the 512GB version costs $999. The 256GB and 512GB models can also use Apple’s glare-reducing nano-texture display option.

Wi-Fi configurations

  • 128GB: $699.
  • 256GB: $100 above the base model.
  • 512GB: $999.

Wi-Fi with nano-texture display

  • 256GB: $899.
  • 512GB: $1,099.

Cellular configurations

  • 128GB: $849.
  • 256GB: $949.
  • 512GB: $1,149.

Cellular with nano-texture display

  • 256GB: $1,049.
  • 512GB: $1,249.

The pricing makes storage, cellular service and the nano-texture option the main routes to a higher bill. The top cellular nano-texture configuration reaches $1,249, while the entry Wi-Fi model remains at $699.

The commercial test arrives on November 6: whether buyers accept that $699 entry price for a larger OLED tablet with A20 Pro, N1 and optional C2 cellular capability. Apple has separated the lineup into clear hardware and price tiers, but demand will determine which configurations gain traction after launch.
