Google has announced the Fitbit Edge, its second Fitbit tracker of 2026, positioning the device between the Pixel Watch 5 and the Fitbit Air at roughly half the price of the Pixel Watch.

The Edge answers a concrete gap in Google's wearable lineup: owners of the aging Charge 6 get a modern replacement, while buyers unwilling to pay Pixel Watch prices gain access to more health sensors than the smaller Fitbit Air offers.

What hardware does the Edge bring?

The device resembles a Pixel Watch compressed from the sides. It carries:

  • A pill-shaped 1.34-inch OLED touch display inside a slender aluminum frame
  • IP68 (5 ATM) water and dust protection
  • A screen with 46 percent more viewable area than the Charge 6, according to Google
  • The same magnetic charging puck as the Fitbit Air, with nearly identical overall dimensions

Google says the Edge pairs with Android phones and iPhones through the Google Health app. The tracker runs about seven days per charge and stores seven days of full health data offline, or 30 days of basic data, letting it track activity all week even when away from the phone.

How does the battery hold up?

The week-long figure carries one significant caveat. Enabling the always-on display mode cuts battery life to roughly two days — barely longer than the Pixel Watch 5. Buyers who want glanceable screen information will effectively forfeit the Edge's main endurance advantage over Google's flagship smartwatch.

Where does it sit in the lineup?

The Edge sacrifices the full app and feature set of the Pixel Watch 5 in exchange for its lower price, while adding a compact screen and additional health sensors beyond what the Fitbit Air provides. That makes it the middle option of Google Health's three-tier wearable range: Air for minimalists, Edge for mid-market buyers, Pixel Watch 5 for full smartwatch users.

With the Edge in place, Google now refreshes its tracker line twice in a single year — a cadence that signals the company intends to keep competing across every wearables price tier rather than consolidating around the Pixel Watch alone.
